On Saturday, 12th April 2025, Unseen Scars was screened to an audience for the very first time at the iconic Prince Charles Cinema in London’s Leicester Square. The event marked a major milestone for the project, bringing together supporters, industry professionals, and guests for an exclusive screening of this compelling short film.

This special screening would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Greater Anglia, G&B Finch, and New Vision Therapy. Their commitment to supporting powerful, independent storytelling helped make this landmark evening a reality.

And what an unforgettable evening it was…

The event began with a warm welcome from our host, Andy Poole, who addressed the packed auditorium with heartfelt thanks. He expressed our team’s gratitude for the incredible turnout and set the stage for the evening by introducing the film’s purpose—not just as a standalone piece, but as a proof of concept and a powerful conversation starter. Unseen Scars aims to shed light on rarely spoken-about issues, and this screening was an important step in opening that dialogue with a wider audience.

As the lights dimmed and the film began, a palpable sense of anticipation filled the room. For the producers and creative team, this was a particularly nerve-wracking moment—watching the audience experience the film for the first time after months of dedication, hard work, and creative passion.

Following the screening, the evening continued with a compelling onstage interview and audience Q&A session. Writer and Director Carl Mackenzie, Producer Kasia Wilk, and cast members Michael McKell and Luke Mably took to the stage to reflect on the making of Unseen Scars and the journey behind bringing the story to life.

Luke Mably opened the conversation by reading a heartfelt message from the film’s lead, Andrew Lee Potts, who was unable to attend due to filming commitments. Andrew’s words conveyed his pride in the project and his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful film—setting the tone for what was to be an emotional and deeply resonant discussion.

The floor was then opened to the audience. The initial feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the film’s storytelling, emotional impact, powerful performances and how much the film had moved them. But then, something truly remarkable happened...

Several military veterans in attendance shared their personal responses to the film. Their testimonies were raw, sincere, and profoundly moving. They spoke of the authenticity with which Unseen Scars portrayed the struggle of returning to civilian life and the emotional and psychological toll of military life that often goes unnoticed. One veteran, in a moment that silenced the room, stated, “I believe this film will save lives.”

It was a humbling, unforgettable moment that resonated with everyone present. Their words not only validated the filmmaking and craft but also highlighted its potential to make a real difference. The audience was visibly moved and it was a powerful reminder of why Unseen Scars was created in the first place.

We are incredibly proud of what was achieved on this special night. The response from both the general audience and the veteran community affirmed the film’s purpose and impact.

This screening marks just the beginning of Unseen Scars’ journey, and we look forward to sharing its message with even wider audiences in the months ahead.
